Default iPlayer now has higher definition

The iPlayer now has an option to watch everything in a higher definition. It isn't HD and you need at least 1 meg broadband speed but it sharpens the picture quality up nicely - especially if you watch full screen!

I watched the last episode of "Saddam" which I downloaded before watching it. The HD does make a difference but you can't seem to get this if you are just streaming the programme you want to watch. Most of the time I just stream the programmes which I have missed. Downloading 350Mb or more does take a bit of time even with a 4mbps fast speed.

Thanks Adam will do. I tried downloading the "Jimmy and the Wild Honey Collectors of Nepal" I got it fine but the amount of time it takes makes streaming more useful. Besides, who wants to download and then keep the file for 30 days - except once you activate the file you only get 6 days. Once you have seen the programme you don't really want to repeat it - the BBC can do that quite well themselves.
