Default Demise of the British pudding

I can't remember the last time I ate a traditional British pudding.
Do you still eat them?

I still make hot puddings. I made an apple crumble last night, only because I had a load of cooking apples to use up. I'll probably make an apple pie tonight or tomorrow too. My OH loves spotted dick and custard!

I make Rice Pudding and Apple Crumble as my specialities, but I must admit..........I've NEVER made my own pastry (shame on me).

If you eat out at a 'chain' of restaurants (like Harvester), you'll only have the choice of ice-creamy/profiterole-ish puddings, but country pubs still offer decent British Puds (well, around my way they do).

I made an apple crumble last night too...mainly because my aunt had given me some fallen apples which needed using.
We tend to eat puddings on a Friday night when my dad and my great aunt come up to dinner. Other than that we don't...

Apart from the double horn of plenty which we succumbed to the other night when we stayed away for the weekend. Talk about indulgent! We found it hard to finish...
Oh well, it is only once in a blue moon!

There are far too many people nowadays that haven't a clue how to cook and don't even want to learn. Why should they when they can just buy a ready made and slap it into the microwave.
Traditional British puddings are too tricky and time consuming for many people in this fast paced world of ours where everything seems to need to be done 'yesterday!'
Also, they fall outside of what's now considered 'healthy eating' as they're too full of sugar and fat.
I don't think theres anything wrong with them at all , provided you don't eat them every single day. They're scrumdidlyumptious IMHO.
Especially with a huge dollop of clotted cream to top it off .... ** drools **
Hmmmm , made myself hungry now .... LOL

I'm all for traditional puds, though I don't have a sweet tooth, and am still at my optimum weight.

I have the occassional one and I wish the the puds all the best.
