here's one for you health way to enjoy dates
225g/81/2ozs stoned dates
2.5ml/1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
2.5ml/1/2 teaspoon salt(optional)
150ml/1/4 pt boiling water
100g/4ozs low fat spread
75g/3ozs brown sugar
225g/8ozs wholemeal flour
50g/2ozs walnuts
place the dates,bicarbonate of soda,salt, in a bowl pour the boiling water over it and leave to soften.leave to cool
cream fat into the sugar add egg and flour nuts and date mixture. mix well
place in a greased tin, cook at 180c/350f/gas mark 4. for 1-1 1/4 hours

i use this recipe alot it makes a lovely cake, easy to make and tasty, and not so bad for you that you have to hide
