Default How do you find out the cause of someones death

We used to have a lovely sales rep come to visit us in the school I work in, but sadly the other day we received a letter from the company she represented informing us of her 'sudden death'. We were all really upset to hear the news (she was a lovely lady) and would just like to know a bit more information about how she died. Did she have a sudden illness? Did she have a car accident?

I don't really want to trouble her company for more details in case they think I'm just being nosey, so does anyone know how to find out such details?

Unless you know someone who knew her and why she died, I'm not sure you'll be able to find out.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think that information like that isn't given out.

Some Death announcements in the paper can give clues but only occasionally.

If she was as well respected as she seems from what you say, then her company should not mind you asking....other than that, you could always ask the Births, Mariages and Deaths people stating that she was a very close friend and you need to know-at least I think you can.

The death would have to be registered, but whether those details giving cause of death would be freely available, I dunno.

You would have to buy the dearth cert to find out really. I'm not sure how long after a death you have to wait to be able to get one.
Plus you would need to know the name and where they died.

Newspapers are useful, but obits don't generally give a cause of death.

I think you have to wait until the end of the quarter before you can order the certificate.

I'm not sure a lady at my history group recently had to buy her brothers as she hadn't been told he had died and had to find out herself!

She got the cert but she never said how long it had been since he died, it may only have b een a few months.

I know it's entered on a Death Certificate Arkangel, unfortunately I have a few myself, but are these certificates available to just anyone who requests them?
