Default Moving Home Stories.

Come on chatters- we want to hear your stories.

Have you ever moved- how many times?

From where to where?

Hiccups?

Anecdotes?

Anything- let us know!

To kick things off, when I was three, and I remember it like it was yesterday , we moved from Wiltshire to Yorkshire.

Our removal van arrived to find that the wife was having second thoughts about moving, despite everything having been signed sealed and delivered!

We moved house several times in the space of a few years... the one thing that has stuck in my mind for some reason is driving along in the van, with the sofa sticking out of the back, we where moving from one country to another (Wales/England) and for some reason we dreamed up 'Inter Continental Sofa'. Which at the time seemed like a great name for a band!! There's an idea for a thread, Band names made up from everyday occurrences / objects? Any ideas!

when I was four we moved house on a schoolday so the plan was I went to infants school from the old house and went to the new house after school, the trouble was I didn't know which house it was.

Love the thought of the sofa sticking out the back!

I remember playing a piano in a van as said piano was shifted back to my parents place.

As for band names- start a thread!

Inter continental sofa!!! Crikey!

I had completely forgotten that. Although I think you will find it was intercontinental three piece suite, since the chairs were in england and the sofa was in wales.

Heh, I'll let you off.

Moved 5 times in three years if I remember correctly! Hardly worth unpacking!

I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or start a new thread but it's still relevant to moving house so I'll put it in here!

Estate agencies shut 150 branches a week - Telegraph

It appears Estate Agents are not doing so well lately. I think that HIP (Home Information Pack) scheme has a lot to answer for.

I haven't moved house in a long time. I would need to use that removal service known as 'Skip Hire' first though!

My FIL moved to not too far away a few years ago.

I was round his new place and saw a rusty mouldy fridge in the garage.

I said look what they've left here, and FIL then informed me he'd had it moved down from Surrey!
