Default Last cat rescued from olympic site

I'm glad the cat was saved from being buried under a pile of rubble, but what,do you think, the chances are of turning a completely wild cat into a domesticated pet that won't scratch and bite little Johnny. Does anyone have any experience of this?

If you have a feral cat then trying to domesticate it is almost impossible. You could do it but you would have to ignore torn curtains, scratched furniture and a cat that would, in the early days, scratch and bite when ever you tried to get hold of it or even touch it. I remember my father bringing home a young kitten which came from a litter which had been born at his place of work. He worked in the steel industry as a hydraulic press man making railway crossing, turnouts and axle box sliding plates. The kitten climbed the curtains, ruined the table legs by using them as scratching poles and it bit and scratched my mother. This kitten was only young but the savage tendencies must have been in its genes. It ended with my father taking it back to work to join the rest of the works cats.

Although I like cats and dogs I wouldn't offer to take one on as a pet.
