Default Shopping Changes

In the last 10 years or more I have noticed how such a lot of people have drinks in shops that years ago would never have happened also how most big shops you have no problems getting your money back on goods. any views....or other things you have noticed that did not happen years ago.....

Pushchairs in shops. Not so long ago they had to be left by the door while you shopped and collected on exit.

Queues in post offices and banks years ago you didn't need tapes and posts to show you how to queue you just sorted it out for yourself. I worked for decades like that

Tetrapak milk cartons: Good old re-useable glass. much less energy required than recycling cardboard

White dog poo no that's been done before

'Tubes' in meat you don't see them anymore

Potato skins. Restaurants used to throw them away now they charge you a fiver to eat them

Kagools where did they go? £5 fold up nylon raincoat. Now replaced by £200 Gortex Mera Peaks and for that matter why do I now need two?

I could go on and on

I far prefer shopping in the States.

Go to Barnes and Noble (big book shop chain) and pick up a book, magazine, whatever. Don't need to pay for it.

Go to the in store coffee shop.

Buy a coffee, and go to a table.

Look at the aforementioned book etc and drink the coffee.

If you want to buy what you were looking at then buy it and if not then put it back on the shelf.

I like that sound of that bookshop Jezer - if only you could do that over here! Although I'd probably never leave!

These days you often cannot find any staff to help you in shops. Time was when if you were browsing you would be approached and asked if you needed any help now it seems virtually impossible to find anyone to ask 'Do you have this in ?? size'. I recently went into Primark to look for a particular dress that I had seen advertised and when I asked an assistant where it might be she just vaguely waved her arm around saying 'it's probably over there'. I got fed up looking and left the shop. Similarly I went into Top Shop a couple of years ago to buy a pair of boots and as there was no-one in evidence to fetch my size for me to try I walked out. On the other hand in a supermarket I have asked where things are and the assistant has actually taken me to the correct aisle.
