I don't like it since it has sort of become a sign of someone making a statement about liberation etc. It was a silly thing to start anyway, IMO and seems so dated now...

Marriage is like having a best friend to share everything with, all the time. It doesn't matter to me whether it is homo or heterosexual, it's good to travel though life with someone who shares the same history as you do.

Hate it...hate it...never understood the need. One is either married and Mrs or not married and Miss. I agree with the trapped insect idea posted earlier. Mzzzzz yeah right.

A lovely anecdote...I went to visit my Aunt who was in her late 70s at the time. She was on holiday in a very nice hotel in St Ives in Cornwall. Auntie never married so is a Miss and when the hotel receptionist queried the Miss...Auntie smiled graciously and said 'Oh don't worry I haven't been neglected.' I thought that was priceless

I feel the problem may lie with the libertarians... I think they wanted us to have one title as a man has just one ie Mr... I feel the reasoning may be correct, why should we be labelled, when Mr covers a single, married or divorced male.

I think you may be right Ma. It does tend to be used a lot by them and it is this that has probably cast a shadow over the use.

I think the Ms tag is about as daft as the way they used to send letters to young unmarried males titled "Master". I notice that has now dropped off and now you get "J.W Hatband esq" instead of "Master Hatband". It was a bit unlucky if you happened to have the surname "Bates" in which case "H Bates esq" was more acceptable than the other suffix.
