Default Need advice to end my tenancy

Hi everybody,

I'd like to have an advice about my tenancy agreement I signed.

In the section "Ending the tenancy", it is written that if the tenant ceases to occupy the premises as his or her principal home then the tenancy ceases to be an assured shorthold tenancy then the Landlord may serve a Notice Quit giving 4 weeks notice to end the tenancy.
How can I do it? Because that will be my case in one or 2 months, and I would have lived in my flat for only 4 months whereas my tenancy term is 6 months. Would I have to give them a proof of my other place or not?

Besides my friend has just lost is job and won't be able to pay his rent anymore. Do you know how he can end his tenancy? So am I.

If you have any ideas, or solutions please tell me.

Thanks a million for all the help and answers I will have.

I suggest you talk to the Citizen's Advice Bureau , they have volunteers who can give free advice on matters such as this

I agree with both of the above posts. Good luck finding a solution.

You will certainly need to speak to the Landlord about this. However, there are legal restraints on what either party must do, for instance you cannot be evicted without a Court Order. Have a look at this link before you go and discuss the problem with first your Landlord and secondly the Citizens Advice Bureau. Ending the Tenancy
