Default Perfume...

Having just opened a thread on perfume...wouldn't it be wonderful if you could smell things through your computer...not dirty smelly things...but nice stuff! You wouldn't have to trail round perfume counters to find a new perfume...you could smell when someone has a pot of coffee on...etc

Oooo the mind boggles...well mine does anyway!

i don't think that's too far away DCC. People laughed at the smellovision idea but you can bet research is going on. I guess it's really hard to synthesize the smells accurately. Remember the scratch and sniff things? they were a bit crap really so hopefully things have moved on lol.

the scientists say that our sense of smell is the strongest sense we have and is the first sense we develop as a baby-that is why we love nice smells and hate bad smells

conversely, the last sense we develop is our sense of hearing and, supposedly, we can hear ourselves die-but, obviously, that cannot be proven because we are by then dead-lol

Talking of smelling rats, I was busily cleaning the car windows today and suddenly became aware of the most appalling stench imaginable. I looked round and there was Mutly the dog covered in God knows what that he'd just discovered in one of the adjacent fields and had merrily rolled in.
Rubber glove, shampoo, hose and a wet dog. Smells quite nice now.
Why do they do it I ask?

It goes back to the inbred hunting of the dog and by rolling in fox or cow shite, the shite will disguise the dogs own scent and therefore they can get nearer the prey.
Also heard, that rolling around in such stuff is cooling to the blood/skin, a bit like Calamine lotion to humans.

Tomato juice is reported to nuetralise the smell, but you may have a pink doggy if the dog is white and you don't rinse it out enough.

What got up my nose, apart from the stench, was that he looked so pleased with himself too.
Thanks Issie.
