It's one year on since Northern Rock started showing signs of distress. Unbelievable how time flies isn't it.

I can't say that so far I've been greatly affected by the 'credit crunch' but then I don't borrow money. In fact watching the interest rates rise on my savings has been a welcome change. I appreciate that this is only short term and the continual rise in road tax will soon put basic food and staples of life beyond the reach of more and more people and will sooner or later affect everyone.

I just wondered what difference the so called credit crunch has had on people in the last year

Well we do have a mortgage with Northern Rock and the promise from the new CEO to do everything they can to help people isn't really the case but apart from that things are, touch wood, fine with them.

We have noticed an increase in the cost of the weekly shop. Other than that we crunch hasn't affected us yet.
