Default Walking Stick Murder

I couldn't believe this when I saw it going across the latest news ticker on the BBC News website.

16 god dam pathetic years????? what the hell is going on, the sick b*stard needs destroying off the face of the earth, that poor man would have died a horrific death, grrrrrrr 16 years and he will be out on the street again and this poor man will never get his life back, gone forever, why is life seen as such a "oh well what ever" kind of attitude, where has an eye for an eye, a life for a life gone? I hope he chocks to death in a very slow and painful way

I just don't understand the mentality of someone like that. Have you ever wondered where Judges get their expertise at either an understatement or stating the obvious? The Judge in this case said: "You tried to suffocate him with a pillow and this man's ability to resist was greatly reduced when you put the walking stick into his mouth." Now who would have thought putting a stick 9 inches into someones throat would have done anything else but reduced the ability to resist? The guy should be put down - permanently.

Sixteen years for a sadistic murder- compare and contrast with this case, where the bloke was just the driver;

It has been emphasised you are of low intelligence and are inadequate but you are not inadequate in the use of violence

I am sick to death of people thinking that admitting to being a moron somehow makes up for the crime you've committed. The punishment should suit the crime not the criminal. I see no reason why the criminal's financial state, substance dependency or IQ should be taken into consideration in any case. I also think the woman got off too lightly too.

After reading Sooty's comments I read the article again, and one part of it struck me-

"You have in the past two very unpleasant attacks that were brought on by excessive drink.

Now, I like a drink or three but I've never got violent as a result.

Me neither Jezer. I normally go something like .. laughing at everything .. feeling ill .. sleeping.. and then possibly being ill (although that hasn't happened for a long time!)
