Default Petrol down

Asda and Morrisons have dropped the price of their petrol .

BBC NEWS | Business | Retailers push petrol to below £1

would this make you more likely to fill up
with supermarket petrol or do you prefer to fill up with branded name petrol?

I don't drive sadly, but if I did I would have no problem with the cheaper option, as I wouldn't be driving a high performance vehicle and would prefer to get the most for my money as with anything these days.

Years ago when I was driving 200+ miles per day up and down the M1 I filled up alternately between supermarket (Tesco) and a Shell garage. I averaged 50 miles per tank more from the Shell garage which was the equivalent of about 2 extra gallons which was worth a lot more than the 20 -50p saved by buying the cheaper petrol.

I did hear that although they petrol is carried by the same tankers the 'cheap fuel' doesn't get the chemicals added. I'll see if I still have the report (I think I posted it here once a couple of years ago).

To be fair I think supermarket fuel has improved since then but the the price differential has decreased also.
