Angry Bleed us dry why don't you

Last weeks pump price here was 112.99 now its 115.99 that is 3p up on last week but wait a minute, April 1st will see another 1p rise thanks to Mr Darling and in Oct this year there will be another 1p rise & Jan next year we will see yet another 1p rise and this is not taking into account the oil company's jacking up the prices during the rest of the year. THE AA got it wrong about last Dec hitting 120.99 but it could hit it this year!

The result of this hikes up our shopping bills, at this rate I may as well shoot myself. I can not afford it, my pension as gone to hell, so I will be working on in to my mid 70's at the rate things are going.

What the government hope we forget is that they get extra revenue when the price goes up both in fuel duty and in the VAT on top of that.

They've been raking it in for years, though you wouldn't know it to look at the state of the roads.

Mind you the other lot probably won't change things much.

It is £1.19.9p round here, Mono. I was very pleased to pay £1.16.9p at a supermarket on Monday.

BTW Those figures were from Morrison's supermarket, just had a look around my area and they range from 115 up to 121. AA may have got it right but not across the board, the highest I know of is 124.

This is a good guide to locate the cheapest for your area.

I nearly passed out when I saw the prices on the M6 recently.

I'd had the sense to fill up near home where diesel is around £1.15 or £1.16 a litre.

I read in a newspaper today that the average price of unleaded petrol in May 1997 (when Labour came to power) across the UK was 59 pence per litre which is more or less exactly half of what it is today. An interesting statistic worth mentioning I thought.

Another interesting fact is that when the price of oil itself goes up it does not reflect so much as a percentage in the cost of fuel in the UK because so much of the total cost is tax.

In the US, where fuel is far cheaper, the cost of crude oil is very much reflected at the pumps.
