You know we are doing so well in the tables, although one thing suprises me, looking back to the olympics from 1977 china have never even been on the table's list i noticed the other day that china had ammassed over 37 golds. What i would like to know is what sports did they get them in.

Reading that list it makes sence now why they have so many golds. Its so unheard of i just wondered if many officials had been bribed, but well done to them. They have obviously been practising well for them..

There appears to be some skullduggery going on. I read a report that one of the Chinese gold medal gymnasts has apparently aged two years in the last six months in order to make her old enough to compete.

I'm suspicious of it!

I've just read a disturbing statistic

40% of Team GB's medals were won by people who were educated at private schools. Only 10% of people in the UK were educated privately. Says a lot about state education and possibly why children are obese doesn't it.

Not really.
Getting one’s fat arse into a pair of shorts and getting off out for a run costs next to nothing.

Worked for me, and I definitely never went to private school!!!!

(Can’t you tell?)

Me neither, maybe that's why we don't have any Olympic medals

This is the bit I was commenting on here. Maybe it’s more a cultural thing nowdays that kids don’t do sport – well most of them.

As for me ever being good enough to represent GB in a sports discipline, irrespective of my schooling, it was never going to happen.

Not sure where this discussion is coming from or going, but to cite my observations as somone who grew up at school through the 60s and 70s, unless you were in the so called mainstream of sport- football, rugby, cricket and athletics for blokes, you were on your own.

I joined a Grammar School and was asked by the Headmaster if I were good at any sports.

I said table tennis- I was County level on a good day.

The HM said- no! Rugby or cricket?

My brother could have been a really good tennis player, but the same predujice applied. Tennis was the summer game for girls.

Thank goodness things are moving forward.
