James Bond: the spy who changed me - Telegraph

I've just been reading the above article and couldn't help wondering if GC members are huge Bond movie fans, or if like me you can't stand them.

In general I like Bond films, especially the Connery ones.

The early ones didn't rely overtly on gadgets and over the years these have crept in more and more.

It's escapism pure and simple so shouldn't be taken too seriously. Mind you Roger Moore probably took that too far. The gadget he needed was a rocket powered Zimmer Frame!

Daniel Craig has added extra grittiness and although I thought Casino Royale was pretty good, I thought that the levels of violence were excessive for the certification.

And the least said about Timothy Dalton the better.

Not really my cup of tea to be honest, they are repeated far too much at christmas and bank holidays and get on your nerves!

ok i have been a James Bond fan since i was young although mainly the books-the films were good entertainment but hardly stuck to the story with the exception of those starring Sean Connery

my favourite actors playing the role-Pierce Brosnan followed by Sean Connery and then Roger Moore-the rest are just not very good and i include Daniel Craig in that group

one James Bond character trait that has not appeared in any of the films but was pretty prevalent in the books is that he was a chain-smoking alcoholic manic-depressive-the films more or less dismissed this side of him and concentrated on the fact that he would sleep with any woman he fancied and kill all of the baddies in some far-off exotic location-throw in the beer and the fags and you have the perfect bloke lifestyle
