Default Do You Like The Proms?

I for one have been to some and my wife has sung there in one of the Choirs many times- she'd blush if she knew I was posting this.

What do you like about this celebration of music?

The sea shanties are a favourite of mine
but I think the fairly new addition of the proms in the park(s) are a great way to get
more people involved.

I've never really been into stuff like that, but can see the attraction.

They started having a similar thing in colchesters castle park a few years ago and it's always very popular.

For the record, I've been to the Proms too.

I'm with red - the sea shanties are a favourite for me although I catch as many of them as I can. My favourite thing about them when I was a kid was a guy that used to be standing at the front of the pit on Last Night conducting! He was there every year and then stopped one year. Sadly something probably happened to him but it was such a highlight to see someone so passionate about it!

There was one chap who used to wear a Union Flag waistcoat- wasn't him was it???

What made it , sorry, makes it , is how the conductor works the audience.

Me again!

I was there one time with a load of French kids in the late 1970s.

I was with the leader of the French group and he asked me who the conductor was.

I said I thought he was the bloke at the front with a stick.
