Carry on revival

Will this format work without the originals like Sid James Hattie Jacques and Keneth Williams or is the humour dated now.
Who still enjoys the Carry on series of films?

I like some of the originals- Carry On Up The Khyber and the scene where they're eating their meal whist cannonfire is going on comes to mind.

I have to say that I cringe at the thought of trying to revive it.
