Default BBC Scheduling.

I was looking at this evenings scheduling on BBC1 and 2 for 9pm.

This is probably the prime time for many, and for those who rely on the terrestrial channels alone, the only BBC channels available.

Not for the first time one was faced with a choice of Doom and Gloom or Doom and Gloom.
One was Waking The Dead which ran an Iraq based storyline and the other was Age of Terror.

Deep joy!

Maybe this is the Beebs attempt to get us to all go digital before we need to.

Either way I feel hard done by as far as paying the licence to watch that joyful stuff.

What say you, chatters?

I don't watch much telly.... I prefer music and the internet. If I need cheering up I can usually find a nice funny clip on youtube!

Mind, the reason I don't watch much telly is that so little really interests me, I don't have any of the digital channels, I don't know if I would get much use out of them if I did have them so it is not worth the expense. I was disappointed when Lost moved over to sky as that was a show I enjoyed, and I now watch Pushing Daisies and Dexter, but apart from that I watch the odd DVD, and if I am at home in the day I quite enjoy the property or antiques shows.

So I agree, there should be more effort in the scheduling, if I lived alone I doubt I would bother having a TV since I use it so little and can watch a DVD on my PC if I want to.

I agree, I think this is their way of making you go digital.

There are other ways they do it too. I believe the following to be an example; When not so many people were on digital, you could watch UK History all day, now there are more people on digital, you can't view UK History in the evening anymore. I think this was a 'sprat to catch a mackerel', in other words, to attract people to move over to digital. I reckon when we all forced to go the digital route, UK History will be subscription only.

I have a digital USB tuner I use with one of my computers, it's the only TV type device in the house that receives digital signals.

I don't watch a lot of television either but I did enjoy a David Attenborough program on snakes tonight, quite fascinating. That was on digital (BBC4).

To be honest the UKHistory channel was downgraded to allow the BBC to concentrate on 'Dave' channel which they also have a stake in. The difference is that 'Dave' carries adverts.

I have a dual tuner Freeview box with a built-in Hard drive so I can watch two channels at once (well I would if there was anything any good on) and record.

My gripe is that they are slowly turning down the transmittion power of the analogue signals making the picture quality rubbish making digital quality look much better than it really is.
