I was kind of sad by the news, but I do have to take his side. Doctor Who has had an awesome come back from the 80's (and pre-80's) versions. To keep Doctor Who fresh and live with the same momentum, the Doctor will have to regenerate.

It will be hard to find a doctor to top him though, because Tom Baker is one of my favorite doctors of all time, Tennant being just below him.

It will be sad to see him go in a few years though, because has done such an awesome job.

Personally, I think that Paterson Joseph has a good chance of getting it

It's funny, I really liked Christopher Ecclestone and thought he was a brilliant doctor. When they announced David Tennant as the new one, I felt a bit disappointed and I didn't think I would enjoy the show anymore, but now I think he's even better than Christopher Ecclestone, so I'm sad to see him go aswell now

I'm reminded of when Patrick Troughton left. He didn't really want to leave but realised that if he didn't make the break he'd never be able to make the break.

I also minded that DT's relationship with Sophie Myles broke up because she moved to America while he remained in the UK to do DW. I wonder if DT will follow Ecclestone and move to America to work

Isn't DT back doing Shakespeare?

Some avid RSC fans I know say he was great in Hamlet (?).
