Default John Sergeant leaves show

John Sergeant has decided to leave strictly come dancing as he feels he is in danger of winning it.
I, for one, applaud his decision as it is supposed to be a dancing competition,
what do you think

He was put in a very difficult situation, and I think he's done the right thing.

Just a shame the judges can't continue to be wound up by his being there!

So much for respecting the viewers who spent money voting for him!

I agree he should not win it but I find this action inexcusable. I wonder if he will offer to reimburse the voters (over 50% of the total last week). If he didn't want to win then he should have told the viewers not to vote for him in the next episode.

I suspect this has far more to do with being 'doorstepped' by the press at home. Dear me, how sad, but isn't this something he did daily in his working career?

All that said the BBC is making good money out of the show this year (the link to Children in Need has been dropped although the premium rate numbers haven't) and I find the proposed rule change for next year preposterous.

Under the new rules, which would be adopted for the next series, a contestant who finishes bottom of the judges' leader board for three weeks in a row will be automatically ejected without participating in a dance-off.

If they want the Judges opinions to hold sway the answer is simply. Don't have the public phone vote.

Are you all getting close to the finale in 'Strictly Come Dancing'? Next week is our finale of 'Dancing With the Stars' (the American version of 'Strictly Come Dancing).

If so, who are the finalists?

Few weeks to go yet there are still five couples left (was six with JS). Would have been back to three couples in the final this year (last year Kelly Brook pulled out early so their was only two) but today's announcement may change that.

To be honest I'm not sure what will happen. 53% of the voting public now feel that JS was 'bullied out'. They may vent their frustration by not voting at all affecting the financial viability of the show, or the may show their anger at the judges by switching their support to the next worse dancer (probably Jodie Kidd).

Either way it must be remembered that it stopped being a dance cometition when they asked Joe Public to pay to vote for the winners. That makes it light entertainment if they change the rules to marginalise public opinion to push the 'Dancing competition' aspect they will certainly lose viewers and money. Moreover it may well gdo the same way as the previous attempts at Dance competitions (Strictly Ballroom and Come Dancing) into the list of shows cancelled due to lack of viewing figures. It should be further remembered in these days of a cash-strapped BBC they need programmes that produce revenue.

I see that the BBC are now planning to refund the cost of last week's vote for JS. Good luck! You won't get the VAT or the service providors admin charges back i.e the service providor to the BBC, and your service providor so there won't be a lot of your 15p left. Then of course what about the people who called more than once?

One final thought Kenny Logan tried to step down in similar circumstances last year but was refused with reportedly the BBC threatening him with breach of contract. What a difference 12 months make!

Dance competition my 'arris Cherie is right, it's a bloody soap opera!

What I'm guessing by that is "what are the standings?". In our version of "Strictly Come Dancing" we have...

Lance Bass (singer of N*Sync) and Lacey Schwimmer
Warren Sapp (football player--I think) and Kym Johnson
Brooke Burke (tv host) and Derek Hough

The finals start on Monday. I'm going for Lance/Lacey... more because of Lacey though because I know her from the American version of 'So You Think You Can Dance?'
