This new series looks as if it could be quite interesting, will you be watching or is the allure of celeb get me outa here too strong?

A virus has wiped out much of the population of the Earth, this is about how the survivors cope.

Sounds a cheerful little number.
....but does sound as though it could be interesting.

Well it wasn't as good as Terry Nation's original 70's series but it started quite well and was developing nicely until the end when the stereotype of the nasty Big Brother state shows itself. That was a cheap trick that let the show down. Let's hope the storyline doesn't get too corny and predictable. Remember how the original series ended in the hydro-electric power plant? I'd prefer that to a Government scientist developing a 'wonder cure', because in reality nature doesn't do too many happy endings.

I don't think I saw Terry Nation's original.

I recall his name and associate it with Dr Who.

Am I right, and what else did he do?

Terry Nation, creator of the Daleks. He also did Blakes 7 and a lot of scripts for things like The Avengers, Randall and Hopkirk (deceased), Department S (inspiration for the X files) and Jason King.

He also wrote comedy material for Tony Hancock, Terry Scott and Frankie Howard

Terry Nation

Well last night's episode was a straight rip-off of the Terry Nation script I'm not sure how it can claim to be written by Adrian Hodges. OK some of the dialogue was changed (updated) but hey if I play Eric Clapton's Layla on a piano rather than a guitar does that mean I can claim to have written it?
