Austrian father/Grandfather???????

have you all been following the news on this..What the hell has been going on there. How did nobody especially the wife, not know that her husband was keeping her daughter not ten feet below her feet for 24 years, then all these kids keep appearing on the doorstep..I believe that she may have wondered after the first wh her daughter did not stay with the kids instead of leaving them but i would have been suspecious by the third. What are your thoughts on this...

I don't believe a word of her story. Who delivered all those children? Does the average man know enough to be any use in childbirth? Who bought the clothes and the day to day medicines. I'm sorry he wasn't alone in this.

Apparently this is the third such case in Austria in the last few years

I know its madness..I take it that it will not be the last either. We dont here much from Austria but now they have to live with the fact that they have just as many sick people as the rest of the world...My heart goes to the daughter and her surviving 6 kids..Being a mum of nine i know what it must have been like to give birth so many times, and to do that for years without medical attention, she must have been through hell and back.I hope that the daughter who is ill in hospital recovers ad the sick get is given a hefty sentence..Life in solitary, in a room no bigger than 6ft x 6ft and no windows, and he may just make 24 yrs...

This story has both shocked and sickened me.

According to various reports that I have read, the man had planned for this for years, and had even had planning permission to build the dungeon in his cellar as a safe place for his family should there ever be bomb attacks. How his wife couldn't have known I don't know. If there was a locked door in my house with a keycode that I wasn't allowed in? I'd be asking questions.

The thing that disturbs and worries me the most, is how is this man's daughter, and the children that resulted from this sick situation, ever going to get over this and lead normal lives? I cannot comprehend how they must be feeling now.

I find the story so horrible I try to avoid it, which is difficult when you're a news junkie like me.

It beggars belief how the wife claims she didn't know anything about it, I find that hard to believe. I can't see them ever getting over that!

It makes you wonder what other sick things are still going on around the world!

I heard on the radio that the Austrians are concerned that this case is damaging the image of the country. Well hey pass him off as German it's been done before!

I'm sure the guys picture reminds me of somebody? Enoch Powell perhaps

The insanity defence...... what a surprise. Yes he's insane, clearly no normal person would entertain doing something like this, but it's not a spur of the moment, moment of madness, he had planned this all out and kept up the deception for years. The truly insane surely would not have felt the need to hide it, so he knew he was wrong. No one will go for this defence surely?
