This is a case for Regime Change if we have ever needed one. Perhaps our CIA friends could find some WMDs that he will launch in 45 mins to give us an excuse. Then again he would most probably get assylum in the UK (as he has a knightood).

Not worth it for the CIA - no oil which is why nothing has happened before.

He no longer has a knighthood

Since very few of the people in Zimbabwe will actually know that his knighthood has been withdrawn there is nothing to stop him wearing the star which goes with the honour as, and when, he likes. In any event all he will do is blame his woes and those of Zimbabwe on the MDC, who he considers to be in the Western countries pockets and Britain's in particular. The best thing which could happen is for South Africa to cut off the electricity supplies which are essential for Zimbabwe to function. The general population wouldn't probably notice because most of them seem to exist with candles, oil lamps or just burning rushes. Once the generals, and others who are keeping this heap of purient scum in power, find that their standard of living is compromised then they will just get rid of him. The alternative will then probably be a Military Junta and the "man and woman in the street" will hardly notice the difference.

Good point red!

Although we have no way of knowing for sure I think anything Mugabe related would get to the people of Zimbabwe.

I agree that the controlling hand really is South Africa which is why Mbeke needs to get his bum into gear and do something.. unless he's pocketing something on the side cos his "quiet diplomacy" isn't getting anywhere. It's something when the ruling party of SA say something and the president doesn't.

African nations need to take the lead.

If we do it's called Imperialism.

Well they need to do it quickly. He has already said he will enter into negotiations after the election (which he will win). Is this to just make a point? To win one last time so he doesn't feel like a failure? This man is a farce. I can't believe the African nations aren't doing something more.

Default Zimbabwe "Election" Falling Flat on its Face?

This mornings reports of the activity in Zimbabwe at the Polling Booths seems to show that apathy and declining to vote are making the election what it is - a bloody fiasco. It just goes to show that you can lead the horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Although we know what the result will be, it will be interesting to see what the outcome of today is in terms of what happens to Mugabe etc
